NAHJ Chicago member Marvin Gomez lands new job in Florida
Marvin Gómez is the newest multimedia journalist for Univision Orlando. Gómez joined Entravision Communications in October.
Upon his arrival Gómez got right to work covering Hurricane Matthew and the aftermath. Currently he works weekdays for the 6 p.m. show in Orlando and also in Tampa Bay at times.
Gómez graduated from Lewis University in the spring of 2016 with a Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communications. He gained experience in the third largest market through various internships at Telemundo Chicago, ABC7 Chicago, MundoFOX and Univision Chicago.
Gómez has some advice for anyone looking for a job:
“Persistence and patience are a key. I highly recommend sending a hard copy of your resume, cover letter, and business card if you have one. E-mails and electronic applications pile up online but a resume on a desk is more noticeable. Visuals matter.”
Gómez joined NAHJ in December of 2015 and has been an instrumental member in the Chicago chapter with his participation and dedication.
We wish him the all the best in this new chapter! Felicidades Marvin!
