NAHJ Chicago member Teri Arvesu has been promoted to VP/Director of Content at Univision Chicago Local Media. Arvesu is currently the News Director at Univision Chicago. She will continue to serve in that position but will now oversee all content, including news and non-news, for consumers and clients.

Arvesu believes her new role is an opportunity to innovate and optimize all storytelling platforms at the local station and also a move that is reflective of the direction the industry is going.

“I’m most excited about the fact that we at Univision Chicago get to be the trailblazers, not just me, but the entire team,” Arvesu said. “We get to redefine local media and create a framework that makes sense in terms of great content.”

“Teri has demonstrated strong leadership and operational intelligence since she arrived in Chicago to lead our News Department,” said Doug Levy, General Manager at Univision Chicago Local Media. “We have asked Teri to expand her influence and take her vision to the next level by incorporating our News operations and our Creative Services functions into one new content creation function.”

Born and raised in Miami, Arvesu got her start in TV as a teenager. She worked for Telemundo for more than 10 years in a variety of roles including Weekend News and Special Projects Producer. Arvesu joined Univision in 2003 as a line producer and worked her way up to Executive Producer for the local station in Miami. She relocated to Chicago in 2013 to take on the role of News Director for Univision Chicago. Arvesu holds a bachelor’s degree in Journalism and a master’s degree in Management.
