Vanessa Lopez is NAHJ Chicago’s 2022 Scholarship Recipient

The Chicago chapter of the National Association of Hispanic Journalists has selected its 2022 recipient.

Vanessa Lopez is a bilingual journalist at Depaul University. Her experience, writing samples and passion to grow as a reporter make her the type of journalist any newsroom would be lucky to have.

Vanessa will be awarded $6,000 to help fund her college career, and help NAHJ achieve its goal of getting more Latinos in newsrooms.

This was all made possible thanks to the continued support of NAHJ Chicago members and sponsors. Through our “Primavera Social” event in April, we were able to raise enough funds to make this year’s scholarship a reality.
