Carly Luque – President
Carly is an Emmy Award winning assignment editor for CBS 2 Chicago. She joined the station in September 2003 from WLS-TV where she worked as a desk assistant and field producer since 2000.
Carly is fluent in Spanish, was born in Venezuela and studied abroad in Sevilla, Spain. Carly grew up in the south suburbs and attended Homewood-Flossmoor High School. She graduated with a double major in Broadcast Journalism and Spanish from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater.
Carly first got involved with NAHJ in 2015. During that time, she was instrumental in organizing and executing WBBM-TV’s involvement with the NAHJ Job Fair. During her term as Vice President of NAHJ Chicago, she chaired both the Job Fair and Scholarship Committees. During the 2016-2017 year, the chapter raised enough money to give three students $2,000 Journalism Scholarships and one student a $500 Multimedia Scholarship. The following year, the chapter awarded three $2,000 scholarships. As president of the chapter, the chapter raised enough to award three students $3,000!
Carly’s focus is to gain more chapter members and continue to organize events to keep Latinos connected with current and future journalists.
Diana Gutierrez – Vice President
Diana Gutiérrez is a Mexican-American Chicago native. Born to immigrant parents, she is bilingual and speaks fluent Spanish.
Currently, she’s the morning news reporter and anchor for Chicago’s WCIU ‘The Jam’. Born on Chicago’s Southwest side, Gutiérrez understands the importance of unbiased journalism and is passionate about storytelling. As Vice-President of the National Association of Hispanic Journalists- Chicago Chapter, she focuses on keeping their mantra alive, ‘more Latinos in News’.
As a first-generation college graduate, she received her bachelor’s degree from DePaul University in 2016. She kicked off her career in South Bend, Indiana where she was a weekday general assignment reporter and weekend morning anchor with ABC57.
Since then, she has interviewed San Juan, Puerto Rico Mayor Carmen Yulin Cruz, actress and author Diane Guerrero, activist Dolores Huerta, to name a few, and she’s ready to tackle any other story that will impact our community.
Sandra Torres – Secretary
Sandra Torres is a bilingual journalist, currently working as a Morning and Midday Reporter for NBC 5 Chicago and Telemundo Chicago.
She has been a member of NAHJ since 2012 and joined the NAHJ Chicago Chapter as a board member in 2018.
Sandra began her career in Broadcast Journalism in 2006, after graduating from Illinois State University with a bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication and a minor in Spanish.
She was born and raised in Cali, Colombia, but moved to Chicago’s Northwest suburbs with her family when she was a teenager. She’s extremely proud of her Latin American roots and is passionate about issues that impact the Hispanic community.
Paulina Wysocka – Treasurer
Paulina Wysocka is a Chicago native of Latino and Polish descent. She works as an on-air personality and producer for the popular morning show Fred and Angi in the morning on 103.5 KISSFM/iHeartRadio. She loves to help promote and report on community events happening all around the city. She can be reached at @ paulinaroe on instagram
